Bilingual Proficiency

In today’s interconnected world, the ability to speak two or more languages (bilingualism) is an invaluable asset. Our school’s education programme fosters a love for language and culture and develops proficiency in English (the language of instruction) and Thai, with the additional study of Mandarin Chinese also a feature of our curriculum from Early Years.

All classes up to Year 4 are taught in English and Thai in a highly effective ‘co-teaching’ model. Our co-teaching model (up to Year 4) ensures that teaching and learning pivots between English and Thai so that students can articulate learning concepts and outcomes in both languages.

Bilingual proficiency provides:

  • Fluency in both English and Thai with Mandarin as an additional ‘gateway’ language.
  • Highly developed critical thinking skills and more adaptable, resilient and sophisticated ways of thinking.
  • Intercultural understanding and cross-cultural competency.
  • A positive impact on neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to adapt and change).
  • A competitive advantage in our global community.
